Gary Vaynerchuck is an American entrepreneur, author, speaker, and an internet personality who has been trying his best to change the perspective of the youth all around the world.
As a young child, he operated a lemonade stand franchise and encourages young child doing the same in a lot of his Instagram videos. He made thousand during his teens by selling baseball cards. At the age of 14, he entered the family wine business. After college, he grew that company from $3 million to $60 million in just five years.
And he has not yet stopped from 14 years old to now 44 years old.
Now he is the chairman of VaynerX, a modern-day media and communications holding company and the active CEO of VaynerMedia, a full-service advertising agency servicing Fortune 100 clients across the company’s 4 locations.
And this is what he preaches in every video whether on Instagram, Youtube or even on Facebook.
1. REALIZE THAT BUILDING A BUSINESS IS A HUGE TIME COMMITMENT
Engrave in it in your mind that building a business from scratch takes a lot of time to become successful enough to fund your needs. And rather than quitting the job that you already have to give more time to your business, you should cut out the time that you spend dumbly. Stop spending hours every day after your job playing video games or watching Netflix. Gary recommends everyone to work for 9 to 5 at the stupid job that you have and from 7 pm to 2 am you should work to make your dreams come true by setting up a business no matter if it is a Youtube channel where you would talk about strawberries or a running a media company. You should just start with your idea without thinking about what others will think about it. And this brings me to his second suggestion.
2. Other peoples opinion about your idea doesn’t matter.
You must realize it as soon as possible that the opinion of others regarding your venture does not matter AT ALL!! He said this multiple times on a lot of different occasions. And I truly believe him. People would keep on judging you and you cannot change their opinion but what you could change is your reaction towards it. You should not abandon your Youtube channel about strawberries or wine by considering other people’s opinions because your idea should be doing what you find interesting and what brings happiness to you. The happiness of other people should not black your happiness. Even if they are your parents, if it brings happiness to you then you should continue on that path.
This is what Gary Vee said regarding happiness.
‘People are chasing cash not happiness. When you chase money, you’re going to lose. You’re just going to. Even if you get the money, you’re not going to be happy.’
3. Stop spending money to keep up with the standards of other people.
Gary Vee has stated this a lot of time on every social media platform that it is not necessary to have a BMW if you best friend owns one. Owning a Honda is okay as it serves the purpose of transport just as good as the BMW does and if someone you consider to be a best friend judges you on having a Honda car, then sadly he is not your best friend. He wants everyone to live their lives the way they themselves want to live rather than valuing other's expectations over theirs. He considers it to be okay for anyone to own a Honda car when you are investing every penny that you have into building your dream business. And he has been trying his best to change the perspective of the community, all around the world regarding the things that someone really wants and something that one buys to show off to others or keep themselves up to the standards of everyone else.
4. HOLD YOURSELF TO YOUR WORD
This quote from Gary Vee sums up the idea of holding yourself to your own words.
‘My dad told me this at an early age and it has shaped how I’ve conducted business ever since. He told me once that if I commit to buying 100 cases of wine for the store, and I change my mind the week before it arrives, that I would have to drink all of it because I made the commitment.’
